Classic Turkey Brine
A classic turkey brine - this brine will help season your turkey and keep it moist during cooking.
Ingredients
- 4 Litres apple cider
- 1 1/2 cups kosher salt
- 1/2 bunch Sage
- 1/4 bunch Thyme
- 5 cloves garlic smashed
- 1 lemon cut in 1/4s
- 8 bay leaves
- 4 Litres cold water
- 20-pound turkey
- Food Grade Bucket
Directions
- Combine 2L of apple cider and all the dry ingredients in a pot on the stovetop.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and then simmer for 5 mins until the salt is dissolved.
- Allow the mixture to cool completely, and then add the remaining liquids.
- Place the turkey in the bucket with the brine for 1 to 2 full days in the refrigerator.
- Remove the turkey from brine and allow the turkey to dry overnight in the refrigerator before cooking.
