You can fry these English bangers in your trusty pan or even roast them in the oven if need be. Here’s our go-to recipe for an English breakfast with banger sausage:
Ingredients:
- 4 English Banger Sausages
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef or chicken stock
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Preheat a large skillet or frying pan, and heat the oil over medium heat. Next, place the sausages in the pan and cook, turning occasionally, until they are nicely browned on all sides. This will usually take about 10 minutes. Remove the sausages and set them aside.
Then, sauté the sliced onion and minced garlic in the same pan until softened and slightly golden. Next, deglaze the pan by pouring the stock into the pan and using a wooden spoon to scrape up any browned bits stuck to the bottom. This will add flavor to the sauce.
Return the sausages to the pan, nestling them among the onions to gain flavor. Cover and simmer gently for 15 to 20 minutes or until the sausages are cooked through. Don’t forget to season the sauce! Uncover the pan; if the sauce is too thin, allow it to reduce and thicken for a few minutes—season with salt and pepper to taste.
