IWATE JAPANESE WAGYU
From Japan’s northern mountains comes a Wagyu so refined, it turns craftsmanship into art — welcome to the world of Iwate Wagyu.
The Region of Iwate
Located in Japan’s northern prefecture of Iwate, the region’s fertile farmland, pure mountain water, and cool climate create ideal conditions for raising Wagyu. Its rolling fields and long agricultural heritage support a natural cycle of rice and livestock farming, making Iwate a uniquely balanced environment for premium beef production.
The Cattle
Iwate Wagyu are true full-blood Kuro-ge Washū (black-haired Wagyu) bred and raised entirely within the prefecture, under a strict certification regimen that prohibits growth hormones and animal-by-product feed. The result: premium marbling, certified lineage and authentic Japanese Wagyu quality.
All About Iwate wagyu
The animals enjoy a custom diet of local rice, straw and carefully selected grains. These ingredients are drawn from the same land that nurtures them. This unique feeding regimen produces beef with “shimofuri” (frost-like marbling), rich umami flavour, buttery texture and healthy oleic-acid-rich fat.
