Goes Great With…

Almost anything. These chicken thighs pair well with cauliflower rice, pasta, green beans, potatoes – you name it. This flavorful, versatile, and inexpensive meat should be a staple of any family’s dinner rotation.

If you want to kick your chicken thighs up a notch, we often recommend pairing this dark meat with seafood and our smoked chorizo or andouille sausage to make a flavorful gumbo or paella. Mixing ground beef with chicken thighs in dishes like casseroles or meatballs can offer a unique flavour combination, blending the mild taste of chicken with the richer flavour of beef.

Our Preferred Preparation

Boneless skinless chicken thighs are a versatile and flavorful cut of poultry, perfect for a variety of cooking methods. Their tender texture and rich taste make them a favourite in many kitchens. Here, we present two of our favourite recipes that highlight the best of what boneless skinless chicken thighs have to offer: one for a savoury skillet dish and another for a delightful oven-baked meal. But don't forget you can also cook these skinless thighs in the slow cooker, instant pot, or cast iron skillet too.

  1. Garlic and Herb Skillet Chicken Thighs

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley

  • Season the chicken thighs with salt, pepper, oregano, basil, and paprika.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken thighs and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for a minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in chicken broth and lemon juice, and bring to a simmer. Let the chicken cook in the sauce for a few more minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley before serving and plate with a side of mashed potatoes. This dish is flavorful and aromatic, with herbs and lemon juice enhancing the natural taste of the chicken.
  1. Honey Mustard Baked Chicken Thighs

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, mix together Dijon mustard, honey, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  • Coat the chicken thighs evenly with the marinade and let them sit for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Place the marinated chicken thighs in a baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • The baked chicken thighs come out with a perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavours, making them a hit for any meal.

Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs Best Practices

The key to cooking the perfect chicken thighs is to avoid drying them out in the oven or on the stove. Since our chicken thighs are boneless and skinless, you should be extra careful not to overcook the meat. We often recommend using a brine or marinating your chicken thighs to add flavour and seal in moisture.

Prepare or freeze your Butcher Shoppe chicken within five days of receiving them. Additionally, you don’t need to wash raw chicken! This will only spread juices to other surfaces. Instead, wash your hands before handling and use a separate cutting board for your raw chicken protein. Pat your boneless skinless chicken thighs dry, season, then pan-sear for a couple of minutes on both sides.

Chicken breast is the health nut’s choice for a reason: a four-ounce serving contains just about 100 calories and almost two dozen grams of protein. It’s lean, it’s healthy, and it’s incredibly easy to make.

“Made from 100% locally raised Ontario chicken.”

It doesn’t get much better than hand-cut chicken sourced from local Ontario farms. Air-chilled chicken, that is. While most Ontario-sourced chicken is water chilled, ours is air chilled, helping to retain that beautiful colour and big natural flavour without any extra water weight. All Butcher Shoppe chickens come from free-run farms in the local area. It’s fresh, all-natural chicken right from your own backyard.

From the Head Butcher’s Counter

“Where you get your chicken matters. From the farm the chickens are raised on, to how the meat is chilled, we really scrutinize every last detail, which you’ll find in the juicy tender flavor of Butcher Shoppe chicken.”

On the Grill

Grillmasters love to boast their own proprietary grilled chicken recipes. We like to keep it simple. Throw together your favorite marinade in a ziploc bag—say, oil, vinegar, honey, mustard, and lemon juice?—add your chicken breasts, and let it sit for a couple of hours. Once the grill is hot, give it a couple minutes on each side and bingo.

Using a Broiler

Get your broiler going on high. Slice your chicken breasts in half (lengthwise) before rubbing them down with olive oil, salt, pepper, and a cajun spice mix of your choosing. Place your chicken breasts on the rack and broil them 4-5 minutes on each side.

In a Pan

We like to pat the chicken breast dry, then coat it in a mix of flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Then we heat a generous drizzle of oil in a pan on medium heat before searing the protein 4-5 minutes on each side.
