The Quick Facts on Whole Roaster Chickens
- Air-chilled, hand-cut poultry
- Free range, all natural and hormone free
- Select from two sizes: 3-4 lbs or 6 lbs each
The Butcher Shoppe sources our whole chickens from local Ontario farms. Always all natural. Always free-range and hormone free. These whole chickens are air-chilled, helping them to retain their beautiful colour and natural flavour—without paying for any extra water weight like you do with most water-chilled chickens. High in lean protein and very calorie efficient, these whole chickens are simply delicious.
Goes Great With…
You can’t go wrong with whole barbecue chicken, can you? We like to spin up a mixture of lemon juice, seasoning, and our favourite BBQ sauce to coat the chicken with before throwing it on a hot grill.
Our Preferred Preparation for Whole Roaster Chicken
So many options here. We recommend rubbing your chicken down with butter before seasoning it with salt, pepper, and herbs. You can cook Butcher Shoppe chickens whole in the oven or on the barbecue, or you can even break them down into individual pieces. And don’t forget to make a nice chicken stock with the leftover bones and trimmings!
How It Ships...
Our whole chickens are hand prepared to order before they’re immediately sent to your door on our own fleet of refrigerated trucks.
Glad you asked! Our chicken is sourced from local Ontario chicken farms without exception.
Prepare or freeze your Butcher Shoppe chicken within five days of receiving them. You don’t need to wash raw chicken! This will only spread juices to other surfaces. Instead, wash hands before handling and use a separate cutting board for your raw chicken protein. Otherwise, the key is to avoid drying the chicken out during cooking.
Chicken breast is the health nut’s choice for a reason: a four-ounce serving contains just about 100 calories and almost two dozen grams of protein. It’s lean, it’s healthy, and it’s incredibly easy to make.
