  • Crispy tallow potatoes: Roasted in rendered beef fat, these golden, crunchy potatoes mirror the tomahawk’s richness and make every forkful feel indulgent.
  • Caesar salad: Crisp romaine dressed in sharp garlic-lemon dressing and topped with aged Parmesan adds brightness and crunch to cut through the steak’s marbled depth.

Our Preferred Preparation for Tomahawk Steaks 

A steak this impressive needs a cooking method that brings out its full flavour. Here’s how we like to prepare our Tomahawk at home:

  1. Bring to room temperature: Remove the steak from the fridge at least 45 minutes before cooking to help it cook evenly throughout.
  2. Season generously: Pat the steak dry, then coat it liberally with coarse salt and freshly cracked black pepper. No need to overdo it; the steak speaks for itself.
  3. Sear with high heat: In a cast iron pan or on a hot grill, sear the tomahawk over high heat for 3–4 minutes per side to build a golden crust.
  4. Finish low and slow: Transfer to a preheated oven (or indirect heat on the grill) at 275°F and cook until the internal temperature reaches 125°F for medium-rare.
  5. Rest before slicing: Let the steak rest for 10–15 minutes under foil to lock in its juices and finish cooking gently.
  6. Slice and serve: Cut along the bone, then slice across the grain. Plate it up with your favourite sides and enjoy a gourmet steakhouse experience right at home.
